Preparing For Your First RunDisney Half Marathon

Run Disney

So. You’ve caught the runDisney bug like I've. You’re already planning the Tinker Bell Half Marathon, The Princess Half Marathon or possibly even the Wine and Dine at Walt disney world. Whether you’re an experienced runner or perhaps starting like I used to be, you most likely curently have a spot reserved for the medal in your wall, and possess started planning your attire for your special day to coordinate together with your favorite Disney character.

The Tinker Bell Half Marathon at Disneyland in 2013 will be my first half marathon and I’ve also subscribed to the Princess Half at Disney a month later. For training tips, please check out some of the amazing running blogs on the market, but for tips about how to ensure you don’t overlook the enjoyment, make sure you check out this post!

Methods for A runDisney Half Marathon:

1. Get About the Email list and Enroll Early!

Running events at Disneyland and Disney become unattainable really, really fast and I’ve read they're only getting bigger plus more popular annually! The Tinker Bell Half Marathon which takes place at Disneyland in January was sold-out by July the year before. The 2013 Disneyland Half sold out in 48 hours. Every run takes planning, but a runDisney event takes even more foresight and dedication to acquire a spot simply because they rise in popularity every year!

Head over to the ESPNWorld page and sign up to runDisney updates and follow runDisney on Twitter & Facebook for updates and promos.

2. If Tickets Become unattainable, Run With A Charity.

The Tinker Bell Half Marathon was out of stock when I went to join and so i saw this like a one-time only chance to operate using one of the truly amazing charities that teams track of Disney for these events. Know that tickets might operate a bit higher and that every charity features a minimum fundraising amount you will must commit to- if you can’t enhance the funds, they will charge your charge card.

If you’re concerned with fundraising, I assure you, the keenness for runDisney half marathons is contagious- folks have been really supportive of my training, fundraising not to mention, anxious to learn about my costume, so for donations! I’ve had a excellent time fundraising and also the cause I selected is extremely special if you ask me!

3. Snag Discounted Park Tickets, Budget Both Time & Money.

You’ll be able to snag discounts on park tickets and sometimes, hotel tickets, for runDisney races but know you’ll incur some unanticipated costs like costuming, race swag, new shoes, food and stuff you’ll look for in the expo and that’s simply for the race, not while you’re roaming the parks!

You’ll want to allow more time before the race to rest- if you can schedule time directly into explore the parks afterwards, the body might appreciate it. Running a race on tired muscles is harder than waiting in park lines on tired muscles! Also, if you’re attending a runDisney race in Florida, know it is going to take far more time to arrive at and in the expo and race itself- it’ll take at least an hour to obtain backwards and forwards on buses.

Run Disney

Finally, just like any Disney event- expect lines and crowds so don’t get frustrated. Disney does an amazing job of piecing together a race that accommodates 20,000 people. The situation is well organized, but understand that if you’re attending a race at Disney, the races certainly are a bit bigger, the lines are a bit longer and that means more crowds. Take time for you to have fun here, despite having crowds and realize that throughout the race you’ll have to stop and take pictures should you desire, but it takes time!

4. Know You are able to Amaze & Inspire Whilst Just starting out.

I’m not sure whether it was the very fact I was running my first half marathon or if my Disney addicted friends came out of the woodworks, but because soon when i started talking about the Tinker Bell Half & Princess Half Marathons and my trips to Disney, I began to acquire lots of emails and interest on Facebook from friends that wanted to get a lean body or had questions regarding the races.

You might not be considered a perfect runner but expect that folks will get inspired, excited and totally curious about what you’re planning to experience when you train, plan your costume and make preparations to move to “the happiest place on Earth.” Additionally, understand that from things i will easily notice runDisney is accommodating to a variety of experience levels and possesses an emphasis on fun, certainly not being “the fastest or fittest” there. If you are still new, that can be done a Disney half marathon!
